After realizing that the first design was not supposed to say WASC and instead was supposed to say Gear UP, I made those adjustments and added the name of out school so the design wasn't so plain. I think that the second design, though still simple, looks much better than the first and I wish I could resubmit it for the contest. But oh well, in my heart I won.
1. I liked how the bear in our design was inside a paw and it looked like it was imprinted into the t shirt
2. If i had more time I would have added something else like making the words WASC bigger outside the paw. 3. I learned that quick deadlines make you have to come up with something quick and do it well like drawing up the thumbnail. 4. I like that in photoshop we were able to make the bear inside of the paw look like it was imprinted in like a stamp. Skies, power lines, and a giant guitar all collide in this photo to create a stunning effect. Aside from the huge guitar in the background, there are several other musical elements as well that unify the theme of the picture. For example, the hiker is carrying a pick, there is an eighth note that looks like a lightning bolt on the posts holding up the power lines, and there are subtle, almost unnoticeable yellow signs above each cable with the name of each guitar string.
This is the product of my final silhouette photo. I edited it so that it is in black and white to create more contrast between the shape of the hand and the background. The sun is the main source of light in the picture which my thumb and finger are around so that the background is very bright compared to my hand. The outline of the clouds are also visible making the background more dynamic than just a white plain scene.
McCurry captures pure joy with this portrait because the man has an ice cream cone in each hand with a big smile on his face. Normally one would not expect to see someone in a turban with ice cream because people have preconceived notions of what they expect people from other countries to do. This image shows that happiness is not limited to where you come from or what you look like and that we share more in common with other cultures than we think. Silhouette photographs represent shape well because since the figure is all black and there are few details, it really brings out the features of the woman's body. Even though you cannot see any facial features, you can tell by her curves that she is beautiful with the sunlight in the background shining on her. The mood of the photo is calming because there is the beach in the background and it was taken during a sunset. This photo has contrast because the waterfall is white and most of the background is black. The falls also create lines that draw your eye down and the tree is a line too. The rocks create texture. The landscape creates various organic shapes like the leaves of the tree, mountains, and rocks. There is no color which brings out the contrast between the waterfall and the bottom of the rocks.
